Dam bull broke in through the gate and did the damage.
Interesting question. Would like to find an answer too.

I know a lot of lads that register calves to neighbors bull and never an issue. My own bull broke out to a friends ground about ten miles away and he’d no hassle and I’ve heard nothing either and had two inspections since.

It's not like a department official is going to come calling, looking for you to show them where the bull broke through the hedge. Put down 'sire unknown' unless you want to keep them as replacements for the BDGP scheme, then register them to the bull.

Did I recently read in the ifj that, the powers that be are going to put a stop to "the travelling bull" due to spread of diseases etc and that you would have to apply for a permit to do so....... or was it all a dream???

To the original poster I'd say keep doing what your doing. Unless you get a letter or a knock on the door. For 3 cows I can't imagine the dept sending out an inspector to see what wall or ditch the bull came through
