    Is this a new thing?

There has been regular sittings on Saturdays in Dublin for a good while now, possibly 2 years (set up to alleviate back logs).

is that not just for warrants and persons in custody to be charged before the courts ?

never heard of a summons issued for a Saturday ,

advice wise ring the relevant district court office but if the summons date is wrong you should get a strike out

    lucky you
