1st time calver, bloody discharge

    hi all, so she is due in feb according to scanning. and today she has a bloody slime, hanging from her. worried as she has tail out a bit after it. she has a good dug but pins still hard. am i in trouble with her. going to see if i bump her do i get a reaction there.

    Put a glove on, lube it up and examine her vaginally. She sounds like she is calving. Check both feet and head lined up and then leave her an hour or two.

    Make sure you have her restrained well. Don't get hurt trying to handle her!

    Thanks. Calf seems to be reacting alright. Have her out in calving pen now. She could be lively enough to go handling So might leave her a while to see if she makes any effort. Haven't seen then passing bloody slime before this year. Another one the weekend was passing a good bit of redish water not slim before she started calving. I had given them endospec the day before and was worried that has some effect but bottle says no.

    Thanks the man in red and black. Stuck paw in and knees and nose coming. Straightened her up and she's out now. Gone too nervous for this lark...when I was a young fella I'd have judged these things no bother. That's 2 now, even if they were both 1st time calvers that have had some bother. After 5 years of unassisted calving from same bull.
