I'm looking at fertiliser spreaders at the moment. Want to get one that will take a big bag of 500Kg. Looking at specs of different makes but the hopper size is often listed in litres. So question is, is one liter close to one kg?
For example a PA550 model is 500 litres? What weight will that hold?

Also, any views on the Cosmo wagtail? Hear they have a vicon gear assembly.

Different fertlisers have different densities.. the run of the mill stuff ranges from 0.95 to 1.05 kg/l..

To be honest.. i bought a rauch mds twin disc.. 1.5ton model, the best thing about it is the app. It lists all the fertlisers by manufacturer and updates regularly.. finding it extremely accurate..

I can't answer your question directly but you are right to be looking at hopper size.

Urea takes up more space than compounds. And ground lime takes up less (greater density).

But just because it fits, doesnt mean you should load to the gills. I have a 'half tonne spreader' but it can comfortably bring 14bags of compound. Not a fibreglass hopper so no worry about it cracking.
