Firebird boiler fires by itself

    Hi,
    I've a firebird silverpac slimline c26kw boiler.
With all timers off on the control panel inside the boiler will fire up for about 10 or 15 seconds every 30 minutes or so.
Unless i power it off at the isolator switch it'll always do it.
The thermostat inside doesn't have Celsius readings on it, just a bar graph style
Can i adjust this down or will that make a difference?

    Cheers

Is there a frost stat on the boiler somewhere. I have come across this before with a frost stat that needed replacing.

Looking online it seems that this model comes with a frost stat built into it.

I am not overly familiar with this model but if you read the manual it mentions a frost stat that can be set between 5/14 degrees. Yours may be set too high and its running alot.

Someone else on here may be able to advise further.

Cheers, I've been looking through the manual and couldn't find anything about the frost stat. I'll check again tho.

The newer versions of exterior models do , but one of the other guys on here may be able to correct me or steer you in the right direction.

Not sure about your boiler but mine as a preheat option which allows quicker flow of hot water to the taps. It turns on the boiler for a short period of time frequently.

    I dont use this feature.

Thanks but i don't think so. I've a zoned system so it only heats the water at certain times.

I have been thinking about this and the brevity of the firing (10-15 seconds) is puzzling. Does this boiler have the digital control box? Could there be a fault with it? Could be a faulty stat or auxilary switch on a zone valve, or faulty box.
Adjusting that stat should make no difference as that should not have power supplied with timers off.
It will need to be looked at by isolating possibilities one at a time. Unless someone has come across this before and knows exactly where to look for that fault.
This every 30 minutes firing is also confusing mmmm? That sounds like a thermostat call for heat, but why for such a short period. I think if I was fault finding i would start by looking at the thermostats and check the wiring of them also.

You're on the ball there i reckon. There is an issue with one of the zone valves not opening/closing on the timer so getting it replaced next week but when all the timers are off would that really matter?

The auxiliary contacts are normally wired with a permanent live from the wiring centre, so it could still fire the boiler with timers off.

Sounds like the cause so, I'll get back next week either way.

    Thanks

The permanent live feeding the zone valve is basically taken from the live out of the double pole isolator .It goes directly to the zone valve and bypasses the time clock and room stats. If the zone valve motor is stuck in the valve open position it will fire the boiler.can you post a picture of the zone valve

I'm working til 12 but will post after. It's definitely in the closed position though. When that zone is set to come on nothing will heat until i lift the slider to the manual position.

The back one is zone two. That's the one not working.
