Placement of stove flue/chimney

Hi - are there any rules regarding the placement of stove chimney relative to nearby windows? I want to put one in an extension at the back of the house (semi-d) with a lean-to roof, and thinking it would be best to position the chimney so that the flue runs up the first floor back external wall, however there are number of windows on the wall. What is generally regarded as the best way to place a flue in an extension with a lean to roof? We have lots of other houses of similar heights nearby...
    Thanks
