Magnesium board onto internal plastered wall

    Hi lads

I'm thinking to put 1 sheet of magnesium board onto an internal plastered block wall (it's 1 side of shower cubicle, the wall is not suitable for tiling therefore I am attaching board. The other sides are studwork with board fixed). I'm between a) fixing direct with adhesive and fastening with screws and plugs OR b) attaching batons to wall and fixing the board onto the batons.

I'm leaning to option a) as it gives me a few extra mm tolerance fitting shower tray and will make tanking better (with option b the board would not go all the way to the floor and would sit above the shower tray on that side).

Any thoughts on a over b? Is there an option c I haven't thought of ? Removing render and re-plastering currently not an option

    Thanks
    Cupán
