Is there anything I can do about neighbours dog whining constantly when she leaves the house. The dog is always left in the house only seen her bring it for a walk once in the past six months. This has being going on for weeks and its driving me and my partner insane. We live in a semi detached house and can hear the dog in every room in our house. Its a reallh hi pitched whining sound. Have tried talking to the neighbour about this and even wrote a letter but she doesnt seem to care. Last night she was away all night and the dog was going all night. Feel sorry for the dog always being locked up

Start keeping a log of the noise, record it if you can as well. You can go down to the local courts and lodge a noise nuisance complaint http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/environment/environmental_protection/noise_regulations.html

Is there a possible likelihood of neglect?

If so you could file a report with the ISPCA?

    Separation anxiety?

My wee dog whines and barks on the once a week I go out but it stops aftr a few minutes: I have waited nearby to llsten and thankfully no neighbours.

We were careful to get her used to absences gradually

Thinking about this last night and the thread re barking. Probably the owners have no idea re the barking/whining as it stops when they arrive. My dog does start barking when I arrive home, until she realises it is me.

Has to be a way to get that across without causing a rift? Maybe then they will eg keep the whining dog in a room away from the dividing wall?

My parter has tried talking to the neighbour about the noise of the dog and she said she had no idea which is fair enough. But nothing has changed. The dog is still locked up in the house all day. I rang my local county council and a dog warden did come out. He heard the noise but said there was nothing he could do about it. He did leave a note in her letter box. My housing association are going to write a letter to the neighbours landlord so hopefully that will help

thats something the landlord should do something about it if they dont you can go to residential tenancies board and lodge a complaint there as a third party https://onestopshop.rtb.ie/dispute-resolution-old/third-party-dispute-resolution-services
I know whats its like we have people at the back and the dog whines and barks when its left alone inside. thing it it can go on for hours and I can hear it 2 houses away. Good luck
