    Hey all,

I'm looking to buy a new desktop either assembled or from components. I have €1000-1100 to spend.

I'm mainly upgrading as Ubuntu is coming to EOL on 32 bit Linux and I'll need to upgrade to a 64 bit system. If I had one area I'd be willing to spend money it's on the monitor, I have a Dell Ultrasharp at work but I'm sure there are better options.

I want it to be future proof and as I work with CUDA a bit I'll need an nVidia graphics card of some sort but not a high end spec (middling spec). Noise is also an issue I prefer my desktop to be as silent as possible.

I'd prefer to buy everything from one place.

    1. What is your budget? 1000-1100
    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Internet, programming, graphics, possibly 3d modelling
    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? no
    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Maybe a spare monitor
    5. Do you need a monitor? Yes
    6. Do you need any of the peripherals? No
    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No
    8. How can you pay? credit card
    9. When are you purchasing? Next few weeks

I'm not adverse to mainstream suppliers Dell/komplett etc.

Here is an example I assembled on komplett.ie:

    Corsair Carbide 600Q Full-Tower, 2xUSB2.0 / 2xUSB3.0 / Audio - €159.
    ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS Socket AM4, AMD B350, ATX, 4x DDR4, 1x M.2 - €104.99
    Kingston HyperX FURY 16 GB - DIMM - 2400 DDR4, 2400 MHz, CL15, 2x 8 GB - €179.
    AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - Boxed Socket AM4, 3.2 GHz Hexa-core (3.6 GHz Turbo), 16 MB - €199
    ASUS GeForce GT 1030 - 2GB DVI-D, HDMI - €89.
    Seagate Barracuda - 2 TB 3,5 inch, SATA III, 7200rpm, 64 MB cache - €66.90
    Western Digital Blue 3D - 500 GB - €144.99
    Corsair RM650x 650 Watt, Fully modular - €109
    DELL UltraSharp U2717D, 2560 x 1440 pixels, LED, Wide Quad HD, IPS, Matt, 2560 x 1440 - €499

    Total: €1,550.88 (blown the budget)
