    The trellis is just the timber mesh or criss-cross, the actual structures have names as Oldtree said.

    Gazebo: roof
    Pagoda: roofs in tiers
    Pergola: no roof, just beams
    Pergoda: presumably a mis-spelling of pagoda

    I read something interesting once about the lifecycle of Japanese pagodas. They're not intended to last forever and are rebuilt perodically.

    I like the idea of wooden things naturally returning to the earth and feel bad when I have to put rotten treated wood into a skip.

    And yet when I buy fencing products I still go for treated softwood, setting myself up for future disappointment. :rolleyes:
