Leaving without notice

An employee of a client has walked on pay day after 3 years with the company.
They have one month notice in contract.
No outstanding pay as holidays taken and walked on pay day.
Has the company any recourse for breaching the notice period?

They could pursue for breach of contract but what’s the point.

Better to be rid of an employee who doesn’t want to be there than forcing them to stay on and risk having a negative influence on others.

I've never heard of a court case involving an employee who didn't work their notice period!

Fwiw the better question is why the employee behaved in this way. The place may have cultural problems such as bullying or long hours, or a history of mistreating staff when they hand in their notice.
