I'm looking forward to playing this.

Getting yakuza 0 and 6 together is a good deal.

Toru Yano is such a perfect fit for this game.

Have the After Hours Premium Edition ordered on Amazon since last September, it is a great price for all you get with it.

i think it's quite poor value considering the price of the base game, which comes with the artbook if pre ordered.
Still ordered it though, im a sucker for Yakuza:rolleyes:

I can't see how it is poor value, 73.99 for the game, art book, two etched whiskey tumblers, two coasters, two ice stones and a nice case is good value to me.

It's an extra 35 pound for 2 glasses, coasters and stones. The base game can be got for under 40 so it seems a bit excessive to me by comparison

Don't forget the fancy box, in fairness I would of preferred it to be a steelbook edition as well like Kiwami, but I have payed more for less in the past.

Demo is out on psn. Be warned it's one of those demos that you seem to need to download the whole game to access it.
    Like Wolfenstein 2 & others have :/
    An over 30GB download

So your progress will continue over to the full game and trophies will carry over too. Not sure about the reserving sieve though, did that mean if you buy it digitally, you don't have to download the game again?

So, certain versions of the demo are actually the full game!! You're only supposed to be able to play chapter 1 but if you can play past it, then you have the full game. Demo has now been removed.

    Gonna give this a try!

Edit: looks like it was just the US version.

Haha Jaysus and I was thinking of downloading it and all based on your post before the above :D.

Demo was a bit strange. Long into cutscene, usual Yakuza, get control and have to head to a bar, another cutscene and then have to head to little Asia but that's closed off in the demo so can't go any further. There might be side quests I can do but I was expecting a bit more of the the main quest, only fought 2 random groups, nothing to do with main quest.

Will have to give it another look later.

  • Il save this one for a summer pick up
    Looks good though

Looks like it will be a lot quicker to finish than 5, the main story is well below half the length of its predecessor, put over 100 hours into 5.

Anyone getting this today/this week? It's 50 in Argos, 60 in GS and PSN. I got a great deal on god of war so getting that first and will then trade for Yakuza 6 when I'm done.

Such a bad move to delay the release of a PS exclusive the same week as the biggest PlayStation title since Horizon over a year ago.
Have God of War preordered and recently bought Far Cry 5, Evil Within 2, Watch Dogs 2 and Uncharted Lost Legacy so can't justify buying this for quite some time :(

Amazon are having issues fulfilling the order I made the day it went on sale.

    That's a dose.
I gave up on ordering anything limited from Amazon a few years ago after the debacle with the controller adapters for the Wii U. I had a very unhappy sister that Christmas.

Any chance of yakuza 5 getting a remaster for ps4? Or any chance of the entire series getting a remaster?

I assume the plan is to remaster them all given that part 2 remake is coming soon.

PSA for anyone who has ordered the premium edition.
Don't use the whiskey stones in whiskey.
Apparently the alcohol is burning off the design according to a few unhappy folk on Reddit

yeah but it's probably gonna be a while, they hinted it would happen eventually but it's probably gonna be after Kiwami 2 and Ishin, maybe even after Fist of the North Star

I want to get it....as Yakuza 0 was one of my fave games in recent years.
But then I got Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 is coming out...and now I'm being asked to skip past 3,4,5.
I know you can review the story etc...it's just I don't know if I wanna do this jump to the end as opposed to playing in sequence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,963 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Aw man this is a lot of fun. I said I would blow through the first few chapters but still stuck in the first one between playing super hang on, virtual fighter and the brilliant darts game at the arcade, hitting the gym (and also finding the correct food to eat after for your diet plan, karaoke and the fecking LIVE CHAT :o wow wasn't expecting that, do not do live chat if someone can walk in :pac: "BOOOOOBS"

I'm mad to start the Clan Creator but read it unlocks in chapter 5.

Edit: also, no matter what I do, it keeps throwing XP at me. Really easy to upgrade as well, much easier that 0 and Kiwami.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 591 ✭✭✭Sieghardt

Gotta say the LIVE CHAT was way funnier than I was expecting, they did a great job of capturing dodgy chatroom guys

I'm in the same boat as yourself, got my introduction to Yakuza with 0 last year and currently playing through Kiwami. Next up is K2 in August, and then hopefully Sega hurry on with the 3-5 remasters :D Brilliant series of games.

Are the cutscenes still crazy long in this one?

Small bit long at the start, not 0 length anyway but I've only been arsing around chapter 1 doing mini games so haven't gotten a good feel for story cutscenes yet.

Also, of you're planning getting it at some point, I'd recommend posing the demo which lets you play the start of chapter 1. Not much to do in it but your save and trophies carry over to the full game and you can get the opening over with of you have some free time. Then when you get the full game, you can lash straight into the good stuff.

On chapter 3 and loving it. Onomichi is a great little town. Bit much settling down a baby, throwing on a game and then having to settle down a virtual baby as well! Story and characters have been great so far.

Wait, wut?! Virtual baby? Please tell me it's a really small tiny part of the game having to look after one...

I won't spoil the story behind it but will spoil the mechanics of it below:
In chapter 3, you find yourself in charge of a baby. You have to carry him around, looking for baby formula, trying different shops. The baby gets upset at intervals and turns into a mini game of settling him. It is annoying but that section doesn't last long at all. Then you have a few more tasks where you are carrying him around. Your full sprint is gone when you hold him, you just have a jog but Onomichi is a small map so it's not a big deal. Almost worth it to get into a random fight to watch Kiryu first hand the baby off to the closest stranger to hold :)

I thought it was annoying at first but it actually does a great job of making you care about the kid. The mini game only appeared during the first task and most missions have you handing him over for someone else to mind. I don't have a clue how long you have to mind him. I just started chapter 5 last night but he's still with me.

Hmmm. That is a potential put off for me. Doesn't sound remotely fun. I'll read more into it!

Looking after the baby minigame only happens once in the entire game and it only lasts about 10 minutes.
You've run out of formula and have to run around town to find some, stopping to play with the baby when he starts crying too much

Absolutely class game, thoroughly enjoyed the **** out of it. Shorter and smaller than zero but it fit the game much better. Finished up at 19 hours but still a lot of side quests to do. Looking forward to Kiwami 2 and hopefully future Kiwami's. I only played Zero, Kiwami 1 and Yakuza 6 but the series is so epic, can't wait to see what happened between the beginning and the end.

Was mad to take a video and screenshots of the last fight, some epic moments but the record function was disabled for it.

As for the epic ending after the credits...
I had said to myself where the hell was Majima and boom there he was :). The secret of Onomichi was a bit meh but all the characters did a great job of making me care about them and their story. Loved how it all wrapped up.

    Now onwards to the platinum.

Japan only so far, but Yakuza 3, 4, & 5 will be released on the PS4 as remasters with higher resolutions & frame rates over the next 12 months, more than likely they will come west as they already have been localized in the past.

It'd be nice if they could fix the hack job that was done to 3 while they're at it
