3.5k something fun

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice. I have a company van that I can use as my own car but being only a 2 seater is impractical for family.

I'm looking at getting something fun, good value weekend run around. Mileage will probably be less than 8000km in the year so petrol is preferable.
Bugdet is max 3500, must have 5 doors, somewhat reliable.
I have been looking at

Bravo T-Jet 150 bhp
Golf GTI
MEgane RS

Anyone have any better ideas ?

straight petrol 6 beemer, engine is reliable, rest of car maybe meets your somewhat reliable criterion. You should get 2006 3 or 5 series within budget.

Mk4 Golf GTi isn't known for being fun to drive and a Mk5 for 3.5k is bound to be rough. And I thought they only did the MeganeRS back then in 3 door?

If you’re looking for fun fun then a heavy Octavia with a 1.8 engine isn’t going to float your boat.

Bravo T Sports go for small money and seem to be a decent car. With 150bhp standard they’d see 180 with a remap and be a somewhat practical fun car I’d say.

I’d look at the faster Renault’s too, they’re proper drivers cars.

I always wanted one and finally got one four years ago, I found it to be a great car, comfortable and not bad to drive, ok it's not a mk5 gti but still. Unfortunately it's now sitting parked up and no longer being driven

Practical, powerful, comfortable, within budget. Tax a bit higher than ypur other choices though
