Question on Ex Gratia

    A quick question.

After 12 years service for company A which hit the wall in 2010 and went into administration the generous ex gratia redundancy is only being paid now as they finally get around to winding up.

In the meantime I started work for company B working there for 2 years before unluckily being made redundant again, They paid me an ex gratia and I availed of all reliefs at the time. The ex gratia on this occasion was a third of the payment I'm receiving now.

What way will my redundancy from company A which is being paid now be treated for tax.

I've read something about a 200K ceiling of which I'm nowhere near.

I'm working currently and don't have a pension at the moment with my current employer.
