New build - no eircode

    Hi

We have been trying to get broadband for the last few weeks. Our neighbours are able to get fiber to the home broadband and 2 KN technicians have told us it's possible for us to get it. But a sales order cannot be raised on the system as we have no eircode. I am struggling to see when we were told by 2 technicians that we could get it. That it would be a system issue that is stopping us get it.

    Thanks in advance

It's a bit crazy, but at present there's no way of applying for an Eircode on a new build.
An Post basically picks up that a new address is in use, and they notify Eircode quarterly and the database updates.

It's pretty stupid that you can't initiate this yourself, as there are clearly a lot more utilities like Eir using them and they'll need them for new build.

Eir should be aware that Eircodes are unavailable for brand new houses, that are totally new build and that there's no way customers can provide what they don't have!

There should be an alternative solution, at least until Eircode get their act together and allow direct applications.

Check on finder.eircode.ie and see if your address pops up at any stage.

As stupid as it seems it's probably the most intelligent thing they have done.
One house one line that line will be always be at that house.
The rest of the copper network has slices and dices cables redirected so much over the yearsyears they stop short of cabs they don't come anywhere near where they are supposed to. Records assume a person can get a line based on a vague address of an entire district and make promises which the tech will have to inform the customer that won't work as way out of range for service. With eircodes they will know if you have it/can get itiand where it is.
Is there no government body ordance survey office that can do this?

Send a couple of empty envelopes to yourself.
