Looking for advice on where to buy car engine oil.
I'm based in Galway so would prefer to buy somewhere local, even online.

The manufacturers spec. Castrol Edge for car I have 5w 30. I like to use it when I can. Motor gets through a liter maybe every 5-6 months (which is expected according to dealer).

Anyone buy online here or overseas? Any recommendations?

..are you sitting behind me ;)

Will check them out. I knew they stocked it but haven't checked prices. Was into Halfords..€50+ for 4ltres. Can get it online (UK) for €43 for 5lts but delivery on top of that.

Halfords can be all over the places with prices. Also partway are Irish. I always go to the Irish lad over the English multi stores when I can.

I use Calbro on Tuam road or sometimes just Aldi/Lidl for oil for older cars (if their oil has the right specs).

Believe it or not, it can be worthwhile checking out the car accessories aisle in Tesco if you're in there. They often have specials on Castrol oil.

Try Woodies or B&Q too, sometimes they have decent prices on oil. €48 for Castrol Edge in Woodies now.

Just make sure your car actually needs it, lots of time that's the 'preferred' oil but the bog standard Magnatec 5W30 will actually meet all the required spec your car needs.

I usually get mine from clutch and brake in Limerick. Free delivery.

I hear you but I'm a bit of a snob in that sense. I won't spend money on myself but will stump up for Castrol Edge. 5ltrs will last me a while at any rate so it's not that much of a splurge.

Re. woodies; is that 4ltrs or 5?

It's 4 litres. A pain if your car is just over that amount. I think Mobil comes in 5 litre containers.

Yea, takes over thet 4 ltrs, but prob get two anyway...need oil for between the regular oil changes as it needs topping up every so often.
