    Hi Folks,

Just called to Toyota dealer and purchased an OEM engine air filter (made by Denso) for my car and compared with an after market engine air filter (made by a well known company).

Results are as follows after I tested 4 times.

    1. Car responded much faster at traffic light when I used the OEM air filter, something like I drove a different car.

    2. Car sounded much nosier when I used after market air filter.

Do you have any ideas for these issues? Cause is to my car problem or just air filter problem?

    What car and what engine?

I've used blueprint filters for years on any toyota i've had without any issues. All of these were petrol cars.

If the old air filter was badly clogged a new one would make a difference to the power.
If the airbox wasn't closed correctly or filter seated correctly there would be more noise. It's unlikely to sound much different with paper filters.

Both of them are new. I was doing this test when I saw the below video link. The after market air filter has a rubber gasket around (see attached picture). I think, this gasket would cause the problem to my car. Might be this only happened with my car.
