I have booked my wedding in a place that's completely not wheelchair accessible. I went ahead booking the venue because I loved it without thinking of the three people I have in my life who are wheelchair users.

It is 18 months away but I do want to find out in advance, is there such a service that I could pay for, that would come in and make ramps etc. for my wheelchair using friends? Thanks in advance.

I would think before you do that you should speak to the person at the church who took your booking. They may already have some plans in place.

Hi Not quite sure if you mean the church or the venue afterwards there shouldn't be a problem in the church but a wheelchair user would defo wheelchair friendly services in the hotel ie toilets

Probably cheaper to get one made up
Then you can give it to the venue or one of the people in wheelchair

Sorry guys, should have been clearer! It's a private venue that we have rented for the day, ceremony and afters will all be in the one place. It's a very difficult one because it's a really old house. Two of the three will be fine as they can get up and move around for short periods, but one friend is unable to do this. We have met with the venue owner and also the wedding planner who both say it's unfortunate, but not possible. I don't want to give up that early though, I'm quite sure that at a cost to myself, I could make this work. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in these lines? I'm shooting completely in the dark here and don't even know where to start!

Unfortunately needs to go up quite a steep flight of steps so will need to be constructed specially, not even certain yet that one ramp would be enough.

It might be a non-starter but I want to try anyway, since I have over a year to get it sorted! Thought I'd try by asking people who may have some experience.

If I can't, I already have plans to include these friends in the wedding, even if they can't stay for the meal too. I feel stupid having booked without thinking of them, get used to so many premises having to be compliant now that I forgot a private venue wouldn't be the same.

    Very likely yes! Thanks!

I'm going to talk with my friend who would need the extra accessibility and go back to the venue again too. This does look very promising though. Appreciate the help!
