Oil burner not firing

Evening all, I am a newbie to the site and this is my first post. For a couple of weeks now my hot water has not heated up when I turn the central heating on, but the radiators warm up fine. The water heats up only when I turn on the immersion. My heating system is OFCH with dual zone, for some time now we have had to manually move the levers on the zone switches as they weren't doing it automatically and I am told this is a common problem. However, today we turned the heating on and forgot to move the levers on the zone valve. After about 1/2 hour we realised there was no heat in rads and realised we hadn't moved levers so did that and still no heat. Then we realised the ground was soaked under the overflow pipe. I went out and checked oil burner, it was warm but not firing. I pressed reset button and nothing happened. I turned the whole heating system off from thermostat and left for a couple of hours and tried again - still nothing. I can hear a slight whirring noise at the oil burner so I know power is going to it. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong? Thanks in advance

you possibly have tripped the high limit stat on the boiler

it will be under a little black button on the main thermostat at the boiler unscrew the cap and just press the pin button

    glad you got sorted

without the zones open your water had nowhere to circulate so it overheated at the boiler
