Do the 'reformed' chuches do Ash Wednesday?.

    Is it a holy day ? and does one receive ashes on their forehead ?. I assume probably not as there isn't really holy water, relics or 'statues' in non-Catholic Churches is there ?. And this would be of a similar vein ?.

    You'll see it in some churches in the Church of Ireland. I'm guessing it depends on how 'high' or 'low' the specific church sees itself. I'm guessing you won't see a lot of it amongst the Presbyterians and the Methodists, but open to correction on that.

    I think it's fairly common in the Church of England.

    The local parish here has a service on Ash Wednesday but its Holy Communion without ashes or anything like that. I remember too that our C of I primary school always closed on Ash Wednesday while the RC ones remained open. That may have been specific to our parish only and as far as I know doesn't happen any more - as with holy days in almost all denominational schools.
