    hi all

I'm down to the last 2 in interview stage for a job position
so when i applied the job description gave a salary guide
of oh lets say 35 to 40 k per year

when this is asked i always think i could ask for a bit more
what do ye think of this or am i in dreamland

i will probably be asked in final interview what my salary expectations are
i was going to ask for maybe 10 to 20 % more

    what do ye think ?????

    regards kerb

So the guide is 35-40 and you want to ask for 47ish?

if your worth 47k ask for it. Unless you have something else to gain dont work for less than your worth.

Be prepared to lose out on the job though.

Well in my experience asking above the max will exclude you

However the last time I got a role through an agency I was offered 20% more than I expected but it wasn't me asking the company wanted me

    It's rare that happens
    Ask for 40k

If you have demonstrable value for money then say I would like x amount (10-20% is probably too much if those figures of around 40k are real) but willing to work within your salary budget with your current salary reviews
Leaves the salary question open for the future if you really are worth the extra and ask for a review in 6 months time
