Hi guys I was in Tymon Park Dublin this morning and came across a bird which had all the appearance of a normal hawk(ive only seen them in captivity)but it was huge, there was an average sized grey back crow nearby and the bird I saw was at least 5 times bigger than the grey back crow,it let me walk to within 6 foot of it so am definite about its size.I was just wondering if this was just a big hawk or some other type of bird similar to a hawk?

Bird of Prey wise I think the only one that would fit your size profile would be a White Tailed Sea Eagle and even then it would had to have been a female. It's doubtful that's what you saw however based on their rarity in this country and their range in this country. Can you tell us anything about its colour, beak type and size or leg colouring?

It wasn't a grey heron by any chance?
