I've been referred for a mole biopsy. I should get this done in St James because I have haemophilia and would require treatment for that. I was wondering how long I might expect to wait?

I have vhi. Can you go private through James for this if that would be faster?

Have you been referred through the National cancer program?
I was referred to St. Vincents and have a 7 week wait, will be seen in January. I asked for a private appointment and they wouldn't have anything before that.

It stressed me out a lot and I got in touch with the Irish skin foundation and one of their nurses called me and gave me a lot of insight and details about the wait and what I could do.
If you're referred though the program, that's the fastest track to treatment according to the nurse because waiting times everywhere are a couple of weeks, she said the current wait at Blackrock is approx. 4-6 weeks, that's private.

Thanks. I should get it done in St James because I've haemophilia, and they can treat me for that aspect of it there.

My referral was sent in publicly. They said it might be months. I got details of two private dermatologists in St James, and verified my insurance would cover it, so I'm looking at getting it redirected. Will wait and see what they say when I get through to one of them.

When I asked for a private appointment, the dermatologist I was referred to had an equal waiting time for private appointments than I have publicly.
I can highly recommend to ring the Irish skin foundation and ask if the nurse Una can ring you back. She was nothing but helpful and has very good knowledge about consultants, waiting times and difficulties.
Dermatologists everywhere in Dublin are incredibly busy at the moment as it seems.
