Anyone else heard about this? it seems they're replacing it with the 1.5 on the Karoq...Not a lot of info around and is still an option on the Irish website

There has been talk about the 1.4 being phased out the last 12-18 months. It's already in the Golf/A3/Karoq/Ibiza.

They offering a way better 1.5tsi engine instead. Its 150hp now too. If I remember right you can get that engine in New Ibiza and Ateca.
Its a shame they are not offering that 1.8tsi with 180hp in Ireland. It would be perfect middle ground between performance and economy engines.

You can get a 2 litre 190 petrol alright.

The Golf still doesn't have it yet...

In a miniscule market on the periphery of Europe no, but anywhere that matters it does. We just get the left overs here compared to other markets a lot of the time. We'll get what sells first so it's the 1 litre first.

The thing I don't understand is that they made a big deal out of the 1.5 engine launching when the MK7.5 came out, that seems to be the flagship model for that engine and the Golf is the last to get it here. Golf is the best selling VAG car, why not dump the 1.4 into the A3, Octavia, Leon etc. I understand they'll shift stock quicker by putting it in the car that sells more but they're also giving their best selling car the older engine which is bad for the customers.

Are Seat selling many of the 1.4 Tsi engines in the Ateca?

    I belive it's a v popular choice with a lengthy waiting time.

Hopefully there will be a stock of second hand xcellence tsi models available when I'm looking to buy next year. I don't do anywhere near the mileage for a diesel and this looks like a decent option

I had the 122 bhp variant in a 09 Octavia. Great engine.

    Older engine.

Same engine, higher bhp variants had blower/turbo combination with varying degrees of reliability ( mainly worse). The 1.5 is a new engine.
