Oil boiler replacement

Looking to get advice before I get quotes from providers to make sure I am talking about the right things.

We have a very old oil boiler, which needs replacing and rather get it done now than wait till it’s broken. Our current boiler heats up the rads and hot water (have not used it to heat water independently though). We also have underfloor heating in the kitchen which has a separate valve / switch and we have not had it on since last Christmas as it eats the oil.

House is a 6 bed bungalow, with 15 radiators and 2 electric showers. Water is from a well onsite.

In an ideal world, I’d like a boiler in the utility room, which would give instant hot water from the taps if possible. As a bonus, I’d like to replace the main electric shower with a pumped one to give better water pressure.

What’s the level of work required to get this done and what kind of systems would you recommend ?

    Not a problem.

An outdoor boiler is safer and easier to clean if sooted up, or oil leak.
Indoor boilers are identical, but with the drawbacks.

I only recommend GRANT boilers, made in Birr Co. Offaly

Have a look at those air to heat pumps.

They might be an option, no more oil, just electricity.

They may be or not be an better option, I see a lot of new builds (housing estates) using this system. (In areas where there is no mains gas)

I don't know much about them, but it might be worth a few goggles.

That won't give instant hot water.

But ring Grants, their the best in Ireland to talk to + information is free from them.

Thanks Tom. I'll take a look at the Grant and give them a buzz.
