Just wondering are there any jobs in IT or Computers where they will hire you without any formal IT or Computer training?

What area of IT you are thinking of? Support/development/project management/service management/business analysis/security?

Depends on the area of IT you want to go into.
You'd need a good portfolio of work to show though.

Yes. The apprenticeship scheme in the UK is a very good option for young people with no experience. From what I’ve seen in our office though, it’s very beneficial to be somebody’s offspring to get these positions

    Hi OP,

I think the only way you could get in the door somewhere is by demonstrating you have a keen interest in IT/Computers and give them examples.

For example, lets say you've some experience at home with rebuilding and/or upgrading your PC e.g.
    • Installing hardware upgrades like memory/hard-drives and
    • Installing/re-installing your Operating System
    • Troubleshooting hardware/software issues/printing/networking

Let's say you were applying for an entry-level tech support role, demonstrating the skills outlined above would help prove to the employer that you have the basic understanding of how computers & peripherals work.

    HTH,
    Brian
