yes i am aware that there is a branch in belfast but i am interested in a branch in dublin. i have googled and found that there seems to have been a branch in dublin but the last known sighting of them seems to be back in 2012.
A cycle touring club is something we could do with here.

They faded away a long time before that as did other touring based clubs. Emigration and no new members took its toll. I would have known most of them and Im not aware that any still cycle. CTC and two other former clubs still meet up for an annual social meet.
With the amount of clubs in Ireland there must be a few with touring sections.

    Self correction!
I just remembered - There are at least 4 former CTC members in Dublin wheelers and still cycling.

What does the OP mean by a cycle touring club?
McNally Swords has a touring group that goes 100-130 kms every Sunday, along with several shorter touring spins

I think he means, but correct me, that combining cycling and camping out for a night or two?

The CTC was a Uk based cycle association which simply toured. It had a branch in Dublin Belfast and possibly Carlow.
It was from this group that Audax Ireland idea started. In 1987 the youngest rider in the PBP was a CTC member.
He still cycles with the Dublin (ninja) wheelers.

There was a boardsie posting about similar about 3 or 4 yrs ago. There wasn't huge interest here but so some searches on this forum to find him, he might have gotten something up and running off line.

    to answer carawaystick :

what i mean is a club similar to the many CTC which operate all over the UK, see example here:
    http://www.cyclebristolctc.org.uk/

i have copied the following from the website of the Irish CTC ( which does not seem to be in operation at the moment.)
"We are a Dublin based cycling club specialising in leisure cycling. We organise cycling runs throughout the year and over holiday weekends. We cater for touring cyclists of all ages who enjoy an evenly paced half day or full day cycle along the quiet country roads that are a feature of the counties surrounding Dublin city."

as far as i can see this type of club does not exist at the moment.
