If kids were taught how to think in a clear, critical, logical, reasoning way then there would be no religion, atheism or agnosticism... PERIOD...

What does it all matter. People will find some other reason to fight each other, judge each other hate each other.

They’ll find positions of power, access to children and ways to stay in the closet.

Things to do before football matches to boost sponsorship potential.

Some might say it’s easier to spot them now.

Perhaps but that is no reason not to reduce it, or attempt to, all the same. I believe people are generally good, and will stay good when allowed to.

But when we share a common reality it is much easier to reason people out of hate and judgement. We do not achieve this 100% of the time of course, but it is still easier.

But when we do not share a common reality, because some people subscribe to unsubstantiated nonsense, the potential for resolution and common ground is much smaller.

Worse, unsubstantiated nonsense can lead good people to do BAD things. The example that always jumps to my mind is that of the parents who watch their own children die, often painfully, of relatively easy to treat medical conditions. It is pretty much ONLY through the derangement caused by things like religion that we can motivate a loving parent to murderous levels of "love" to create horrors like that.

Perhaps it is all doomed to failure who knows. But I have never seen pessimism as an excuse not to at least ATTEMPT to do the right thing.

Everything else but religion, atheism or agnosticism, also a more boring and less quarrelsome, argumentative and belligerent world...

to be fair, your phrasing suggests you're stating it as fact.
what cultures have you found in your studies, where religion was simply not present, and clearly linked to the education policies of the same culture?

Religion (belief in god/s), atheism (disbelief in god/s), agnosticism (open to proof one way or another).

I think that pretty much covers everything from firm belief to firm disbelief and anything in between. What else us there on the gnostic/agnostic, theist/atheist scales?

If we didn't have religion we would still find something to disagree / argue / fight / go to war over. From which end of a boiled egg to open, to nationalism, resources, etc...

If RichieO had been taught how to think a clear, critical, logical, reasoning way then he would not be offering his opinion as a fact.

Indeed, if he has been so taught he would not hold this opinion. Logically, if there is no religion, then doesn't atheism prevail universally by default?

yeah, there's a fantastic whiff of shooting oneself in the foot, off this thread.

If god had never been created why would there be a word to oppose it and how could anyone be undecided?

So yes, atheism would be the default position, only it would called normal...

If you thought in a a clear, critical, logical, reasoning way, RichieO, you wouldn't confuse "there would be no word 'Atheism'" and "there would be no atheism".

I never made that claim, I know I don't, but I do try to aspire to it, although I wish I did think in a clear, critical, logical, reasoning way, then I could explain better and defend myself from attack on every post from pedantic nitpickers, who always miss the point...

The point is that you offered a rather juvenile statement of faith as though it were objective fact, and you're having the piss taken out of you for doing so. Which was pretty much foreseeable by anyone thinking think in a clear, critical, logical, reasoning way.
