CV query

I have worked in the same place 2 times, but with a few years working in other places in between. The work and responsibilities were similar both times.

Can I amalgamate the two placements into one entry in my CV or do I ALWAYS need to enter work placements in chronological order?

    e.g.

    COMPANY D - 2015 - 2017

    COMPANY C - 2010 - 2012

    COMPANY B - 2006 - 2010 (2012 - 2015)

    COMPANY A - 2002 - 2006

Is the COMPANY B entry ok to enter like that, or do I need to enter COMPANY B two times?

My CV is pretty packed and nicely formatted at the moment, so don't want to alter it if I can, but would like to fill in the large 3 year gap.

If the rest is chronological, then is is better to have 2 separate entries.

You can do whatever you want, it's your CV. But doing what you want and having it as easy to understand as possible for the person reading it don't always mean the same thing.

If the rest of it is chronological, keep it chronological and have 2.

ok I'll just leave it as the one then and explain the gap at the interview. Cheers.

I had this issue myself worked in same place twice, I show them separately on my CV so no gap is shown. Otherwise by a quick read someone may not see the two lines together and think you have an unexplained gap

I've had the gap in the CV for a few years now (it was about 3 jobs ago), and it never prevented me from getting asked for interviews for any jobs I've applied for.

I thought it might be ok to add a few dates in brackets, but if not I'll leave it as the gap as I've no room for 2 entries. All my previous entries need to be in the CV at the moment as they are relevant. I can remove the last one after the next job etc, but don't have room for the same job twice.
