I googled info about it but it's all a bit confusing.. I think we qualify for it.. we're both working under the 38 hours every fortnight to qualify for it..

I'm just wondering how does it work out about how I can add up totally how much we will be coming out with including fis and working income.

basically someone to explain it in easier terms for me

You will need to work 38 hours or more per fortnight - not less than 38 hours per fortnight. The rules for FIS are...

FIS is a tax-free weekly payment for employees who:

Work 38 or more hours per fortnight (any combination of hours that reaches 38 hours each fortnight is acceptable). You can combine your weekly hours with your spouse, civil partner, cohabitant's hours to meet this condition. You cannot use time spent in self-employment (or on Community Employment, Gateway, Tús, JobBridge or the Rural Social Scheme) to meet this condition.

Where the employment is likely to last at least 3 months

Have one or more children who normally live with you and

Earn less than an amount set according to your family size.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/social_welfare_payments_to_families_and_children/family_income_supplement.html

The amount you would receive depends on the number of children you have and the amount of wages you earn.

Sorry was meant to say we working over the 38 hours.. We our a married couple and be working 40 hours between us every fortnight.. and have 2 kids dependant

    would be earning roughly €400 - €440

If we take your income to be €440 per week, then I reckon your FIS payment will be €103.20. So your family will be €103.20 per week better off.

This is how they work it out.
FIS is calculated on the basis of 60% of the difference between the income limit for the family size and the assessable income of the person(s) raising the child(ren). The combined income of a couple (married, in a civil partnership or cohabiting) is taken into account..

The income limit for your family is €612 ( Two children)

    FIS income limits in 2017

    One child €511
    Two children €612
    Three children €713
    Four children €834
    Five children €960
    Six children €1,076
    Seven children €1,212
    Eight children €1,308

If you work your joint net income out to be around €420 per week then you’ll be in line for around €120 FIS so your weekly income as a family will be €540.
The important thing is to go right ahead and get the form filled up and gather up all the evidence and send it all in because they will backdate the payment till the day they get your application.
