    Hi all,

I found a stray Border Collie this morning in Ashbourne at approx. 7:15am this morning. He was very dirty, hungry and somewhat disheveled/a little overgrown; but he was very friendly and has obviously been looked after at some stage. It took a while to catch him and whilst he had a collar he wasn't chipped (I took him to my own vet). Aside from the above he appeared to be in good health. I didn't have my phone with me (for once) so I have no pics, but spread the word if you know of anyone looking for a dog that fits that description.

I found him in Ashbourne, but he could have travelled to get there...his condition suggested some cross-country travelling.

contact your local warden. check all of the 'lost dog' facebook pages. Take some photos and send to the various 'lost dog' sites/pages.

So kind and good of you to take care of him. So many dumped collies though

Coincidentally, K.W.W.S.P.C.A has a photo on its facebook page, of a missing collie/husky cross!!! Black/white with spots on his muzzle, answers to Bruce

That's all been done via the vet.

And thanks. I couldn't leave him. I couldn't leave any dog tbh. :( Have two of my own and foster. Was just posting here in case anyone was missing one or knew of anyone missing theirs etc.

I'll have a look but 99.99% certain he wasn't a cross....that said it was still dark at the time so I'll double check.

It's not the first time I've done it and I doubt it will be the last! He was so nice though, I really wanted to keep him but I just can't. :(

Ohhhh he's such a handsome dude.....I seriously hope he finds his way home.

I've just checked Lors Lost Dogs FB page and his photo doesn't seem to have been posted up there or on the other popular lost dog sites such as LDI-Lost Dogs IRL, Lost and Found Pets Ireland, Lost Dogs Ireland. He looks as if he's been traveling a while so could have strayed a distance.

    Has he been claimed??

Just to update everyone on this - he was claimed by his family last week and is therefore happily reunited with them. He is also now microchipped. He was missing for 2 weeks before I found him so effectively missing for a month.

The family live in Dundalk, which is a 60km direct drive on the main roads and motorway. Given the condition I found him in he had travelled a lot further than that through fields etc.

    Just glad he's rehomed. :)

Dundalk to Ashbourne, wow.....if only they could talk! Glad he's home.
    Thanks for the update.
