    Hi

so here goes my own car is coming to the end of it's lifespan but trying to buy a house so avoiding loans or big expenditures.

    looking at maybe 3500 budget.

my last two cars were 330i e90 and then 530d e60. so it doesn't have to be to frugal.

    I do 400 to 600km a week.

    anyone any suggestion?

These don't look to bad maybe?

I've looked at the likes of Saabs, Audi A6 or Jag X Types but don't read to many good things.

Same with Alfa apart from the 2.4 engine which a rare enough.

    BMW. My choice

Have a look in the luxobarge thread
Plenty of big-engined cheap cars there

    I would look at an IS250 over a 220d
Jaguar S Type are a lot of car for the money.

They were reasonably popular in 2008 and there were a few imported. They have a bit of a bad reputation with regards the driving experience and cooling system issues so they’re maybe not as sought after as they once were. People will usually buy an A4 over an IS for example.

An IS250 auto would give you no issues and is a much nicer cruiser than a 220d if you don’t mind the tax and fuel consumption.
