windows- several appear double glazed (we paid for triple)

Long story short- after a delay with a large upstairs window (measured wrong) it was finally fitted Friday. Our builder wasn't there as they were a week earlier than they said. We went round today and it appears to be double glazed- we've compared it against other windows and there's definitely only two panes there. We then went round every other window and several others also appear double glazed (including one small one so it doesn't seem to be down to a sizing thing). We can see the difference clearly between these few and the ones which are obviously triple glazed.

We've had a LOT of issues with this window company (and I put so much research into it- this isn't the obvious window co people have issues with).

I should wait till the morning but panicking a little- heading down to meet the builder onsite but is there any logical reason for these few being different? The large window upstairs was in the sign off form as being a bit more narrow but ALL windows were to be triple glazed so I never questioned it. We're hoping we're wrong and we're missing something and jumping to the wrong conclusion (like some new higher spec window) but surely the three panes should be there and should be obvious? Irrelevant of how good the u value is we wanted all triple glazed? We've already been held up considerably due to the replacement window....but really can't afford another huge delay if they did get this wrong.

The final version of your window schedule should have all the details. Does it detail the thickness of the panes & gaps per window? I'd be absolutely raging though, but I'd be going through it with a fine tooth comb. If you signed off on triple and they fitted double then you can insist it's replaced at their cost but it's possible the sales person might have accidentally changed the schedule and no-one noticed?

I really hope this isn't the same company I'm placing an order with soon :(

    I've PM'd you!

Can you post a picture of the sticker label on the units.
The triple glazing in some units can be tricky to see, even for people that would be used to them.

Yes I’ll do that tomorrow although We’ve just gone through the sign off forms in detail. The overall sign off and acceptance doc clearly states Triple glazed aluclad in both docs (and that there is one product only). However in the schedule the construction makeup of the two windows we’re questioning are different to the others at 6,38es+16g+4es whereas all the others are 6,38es+16g+4+16g+ES6,38...,and the first seems to suggest double glazed (although hoping again I’m wrong but seems unlikely at this stage). Raging I didn’t notice but as the order acceptance form clearly stated triple glazed I wouldn’t have thought to look closer.

    6.38ES+16g+4ES is double glazed.

the 'g' is the 'gap' between window panes - so one listed gap = 2 panes.

It's odd that the documentation states 3g yet the schedule lists 2g. Not sure how it stands - technically you've signed off on the schedule, yet you've also signed off on the acceptance doc which states 3g. Conflicted requirements...

Hope you get a satisfactory resolution

These two windows are also the largest ones (excluding sliding door). It doesn’t seem to be a coincidence these are the two slipped in as double glazed.

what size? we've got 2250x1850 scheduled at 3g. Albeit it a fixed frame, no openings

Are there large openings in those larger panels? Could it be a weight issue for the hinges?

The largest window is 3888w x 1983h but there are four sections as such (I think it was fitted in several pieces). There is an opening but it’s only on one section which is 25% of the width of the window. The other is 3000 x 2248 but the opening is only 1/3 across. It’s part of a corner piece and the adjacent widow is triple glazed.

is the adjacent one the same size & configuration, with openings etc? What sort of openings? side hung? top hung? side swing reversible? top swing? tilt and turn?

No the adjacent triple glazed one is just a fixed panel with no openings. The adjacent double glazed one has an outward opening top swing (upstairs windows are the same but the opening isn't right across the windows, just on one section which are 'approx' 1000m wide.
