Hire Nissan Leaf

I'm wondering is there anywhere I could hire a Leaf for a month or so to see if it would be an option for me. I have been searching but none of the car hire companies seem to do it. Or if they do I'm not seeing it.

    Has anyone done something similar?

They don't have anymore, checked now

Gocar have i3's but crazy expensive

Nissan would give you a Leaf for a week if you call in

They were giving me one for a week after a test drive, didn't bother as would never buy current one

    New one is nice though

Should be noted that thierry14 doesn't (and never has) owned an EV but always seems to be full of advice, which is misleading to would-be owners. OP you're probably better off waiting for the actual Leaf & EV owners to come along.

Perhaps you could give us some idea of your daily driving distances, if you have your own private driveway to park in, whether you have access to work charging etc and we can give you some tips. I'm sure you could also swing a 3 day test drive from a dealer which would give you a good idea on them.

I think logistically it'll be ok. 72k round trip to work. Own driveway etc.

It's more how I would find it day to day. I would be buying used so not sure about dealer. I also would like a good long period to make up my mind.

That's well within range of a 24kwh Leaf and your fuel savings would be considerable. What are you currently driving?

Right! Bit of a change so - maybe the BMW i3 would be a better option if it's performance you're after?

A little beyond my budget! (edit: I thought you were on about the Conor McGregor yoke, I see an i3 is something else)

Yes it would be quite a change. To be honest my commute now is mostly traffic, there is little chance to enjoy a car. Or at least a sporty car, I am inclined to try something entirely different.

    Try being the operative word.

The Leaf is no performance car, but it's good fun to drive and I took to it quickly, buying a second one within 2 months of buying the first. My previous car was an E200k and before that, I was driving FTOs for a few years.

Ah I'm not codding myself it's a performance car.

I dunno, I had a teg type r before I got my leaf 3 years ago. I loved the type r, but now I'm in my late 30s, the leaf is economical, perfect for my 100km round trip to work(free charging at work) and fun to drive.

Here's a clip at the lights a few years ago... I'm still a boy racer at heart! Listen to his VTEC kick in, a mile behind :D

A used i3 would be a good option and not as expensive as you might think. Below 100km/h certainly beats the Type R, motor trend 0-100 is a roughly similar 6.4 seconds., though with the traction control off and a good grippy surface I've timed it below 6 (the i3's motor controller limits the power initially to avoid losing grip 'cause the tires are 155s).

And as tedpan pointed out... in the traffic light grand prix... you want electric torque.

Try electricautos.ie in Nass and see if they would rent one or weeks test Drive if no go from Nissan
