    Avast a/virus warned me of blocking JS:Miner-E[Trj]. It appears that it is for using a pc for mining bitcoins. I seem to have avoided it but anyone any information on this type of virus?

    It's been a dodgy advert issue for months now, see this article on Ars Technica for details (for example).

    Can be more insidious on phones where you have less chance of having the required tools/access to quickly diagnose and stop what's happening.
