Virgin Media Coax Cable?

    My self install kit arrived today and the coax cable (I don’t think this is the right name but the white wire that goes from the wall to the router) that came with it is too big for the wall port. The previous tenants had virgin so it’s definitely supplied to the apartment, virgin said an engineer would be out in a week but I already had to wait a week for the box to arrive. Is there some sort of adapter or anything I can use to get around this?

    At a guess its push type and a screw type? If so one can adapt but normally Virgin upgrade the wallplate AFAIK.

    They’re both push types but the hole in the socket is too small for the cable we received

    Thats some third party install, this is what you should have. Its probably from a TV only installation. Virgin routinely disconnect taps for unsubscribed customers so the feed may not even be active.

    First image looks like an traditional antenna connector and not the F-Type connector which comes from a VM/UPC termination box. You can make up a cable with bits from a hardware store to adapt that socket:
    • screw on f-type male connector
    • traditional antenna push male connector
    • length of coaxial cable
    ...but, that might not be the VM/UPC point in the house. That could well just be an old external antenna connection.

    I would personally wait for the VM/UPC tech to show up to fix

    looking at that reminds me of tv and radio ports,yours should come straight from the outside source and protected isolator to router i would think.
