    Hi,
I'm considering buying a 10 Renault Megane 1.9dci from a private individual. It has a nct until August 2019.

I'm concerned about it's mot history:

11/2016 Mot pass. Advisory Notice heavy oil leaks !!. Nearside Front Shock absorber has a light misting of oil (2.7.3). Offside Front Shock absorber has a light misting of oil (2.7.3)

    1/2016. Mot fail. Oil leak.

10/2015. Mot pass. excessive oil leak.

How serious could this be. Should I move on or am I being dramatic?

    Thanks.

Is that one of the last of the Mk2 Meganes being 1.9? The Mk3 is much more reliable car and that was available since late 2009. It came in 1.5 and 2.0 dci(rare).

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure to be honest. It's a UK import, first registered in the UK in 2010.

I supposed the question is more general, is a car that has passed the NCT multiple time but with multiple oil leak advisories a wise investment?

You should know by looking at it whether it’s the 2003 old model or 2009 new model shape.

Personally I’d give it a wide berth

Why are you even asking? Run run run. Used Meganes and similar are two a penny. No need to lumber yourself with a possible dud.
