I had a quick search but could only see a similar thread from 2011, so a bit dated now.
We've been sent on this years club fee's and the cost for our 5yr old is €100. Is this typical? They have one set fee from u5 to u18.
I've been at two clubs previously and the first didn't have a fee for under 8's and the second club charged €35 for the juvenile academy.
I'd be interested to know what other clubs are doing, thanks.

100! Sounds very high to me. My club didn't have any "academy" and we didn't charge membership fees to any juveniles.

    €20

what county is the €100 charged?

€10 a child to a max if €20 per family.
Than juvenile gaa club fundraises approx €1500 over the year to cover other expenses (insurance being the biggie)
A nominal fee of €2 is charged to cover costs when training is based indoors. Free in field then.

€35.00 yearly subs in my club. €100 is very expensive on average.

At a guess - is the club based in kildare..
I used to play there and the adult fee used be extortionate - the club at home down the country I think was a nominal fee and some years nothing.
They seen it as an investment

€100 is not bad. A lot of club have €2 per session/game on top of maybe €20 so little difference at end of the day. The reason some clubs charge this because of insurance, they pay the premium up front and it is expensive. The more teams you have the more expensive it is to run your club.

When you pay the €100 up front the first thing you will make a better effort to get there. When it is €2 you might not bother going. I didnt agree with the upfront payment in our club but it has worked. You can also pay in instalments that suit you. The actual fee is only €5 or €10 to register.

My club is €80 for U/16 - €110 FOR U/21 student €150 for adult players. I think it is good value for our club. Our kids are well looked after and get top class coaching We have good facilities, ball wall, 3 pitchs 1 has floodlights for training, dressing rooms and club house with excellent facilities.

    In my club
    For One child €100
    For Two children €150
For three children or more €200

Insurance is causing big issues with fees increasing

    This is crippling clubs.
But look at the amount of players who are whipped off to VHI and other clinics as soon as they get a knock. It is crazy. This is all coming back at us now in increased fees to join club.

We introduced a strict protocol in our club to deal with it. You must either go to G.P or A & E if it serious enough. There are not very many "serious" juvenile injuries but it appears it is straight off to VHI clinic.
