What's the agenda, why did she leave FF, is she a career politician or does she have faith in the cause?

What does the old guard in West Belfast think of her?

    Industrial wage? What's the point?

How did someone from south Dublin get to the top of SF?

First they came for the socialists...

Jesus, but her voice would cut you in two. And she always seems to be giving out. Never has a positive thing to say about anyone. Oh, except that Slab lad w few years back. He was a good republican.....

the only times I have seen MLM perform in a very positive way, has been in Dail Committee.
She remained sadly silent, on the abuse stories. Such prioritising, has now reaped the dividend, for her.

She has a face like a blistered pisspot

I thought Moany Joany was the queen of whiners in Dail Eireann, when she was in opposition. But ML has easily out-whined everyone else over the pas 5+ years.

She went to a nice school.

I wonder would it annoy her if somebody kept calling her 'mary'.
Or maybe 'lou'. And keep doing it no matter how many times she corrects
you. She might go nuts. Is potentially Sinn Féin's achille's heal.

I'd ride her harder than Davy Russel on an outsider at Cheltenham. Pintman Paddy Losty and JohnnyFlash would be finished Jack Kanoff and lighting cigarettes when I was still two furlongs out and 11 lengths ahead and pulling away. Wouldn't even have to take the whip out to her.

Props for the Paddy Losty reference however I'm more interested in people's thoughts on the subversive elements opinion on Mary Lou.

Besides just because someone is a public person no need to speak about her like a breeding mare.

Why is degrading sexual comments about women allowed on Boards???

I’m no fan of SF but what was posted above is vulgar boardering on the grotesque

Sorry I'll try harder in future. I was trying to start a conversation on how a south side dub becomes the leader of SF.

She’s like the rest of them I suppose. A woman running for office against a gay fella against Michael Martin. They will try make it about that while telling the population everything is awesome/terrible. I’d probably give my votes to one of the people who helped the whistleblower stories and think if they got a party behind them at least it would bring on some change.

Padraig Pearse and Daniel O'Parnell died, and died screaming, just so that Harry Bailey Esq, and any true Irish Man for that matter, can and will have the freedom to make degrading sexual comments about politicians of their so choosing.

A breeding mare has no place coming up the hill at Cheltenham. A dam is what your thinking of. I'm not a great wordsmith, my kind words were intended to to convey the message that I find Troisa Ferris a beautiful articulate woman. Back to Mary Lou, she's a career political. She wasn't climbing the ladder as fast as she desired in Fianna Fail, jumping ship to Sinn Fein where she landed a council seat in Blanchardstown and rose through the ranks of the party faster than the speed of light due to her direct manner of speaking and political guile. I'm not a fan of hers, but it's pretty safe to say that fianna fail are kicking themselves for not realising the talent right under their noses. Her sister went and joined the fringe republican party Eirgi. Sinn Fein where very pragmatic, and still are in the sense that they fielded more young female candidates than any other party. This was a very effective strategy in the sense that it appealed to many young voters who may not have voted otherwise whilst simultaneously slowly starting the process of distancing the party from the traditional image of the hooded men. A southern version of Danny Morrisons strategy of the long war in the occupied counties. Today both the northern shinners and their southern counterparts are headed by women. Anyways I'm rambling. Back to what I know, I'd give Helen McEntee a rattle too. A blueshirt in the East Meath constituency filling the seat of her father Shane when he passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly. Like Troisa, she is a very capable politician, and had the honour of becoming the youngest Teachta Dail at the ripe old age of 26. When I finally get around to having sex with a woman, if push came to shove Mrs Ferris would win by a short head, but not short enough to warrant a photo finish. Averil Power (ind) would finish third, a solid e/w option.

I don't know whether your taking a swipe there as sarcasm doesn't translate well in text, but if not your spot on. They died to provide the freedom that we so readily take for granted today.

No swipe anyway. I'm just taking this as a light hearted conversation.

    I'm not good at history.

It’s a nonsense defence that has no basis in fact

Sorry to break the news, but AH is probably the most censorious place on the interweb.
Some people seem determined to make it worse, granted.

Mod: After Hours is not the place for political threads.

It's bad enough that there's a Sinn Fein thread already here, but there's definitely no need for this.
