Replacement ignition barrel

    Has anyone an idea how much it would cost to get the ignition barrel replaced on a 07 vw golf. I’ve been told mines collapsed

    Sometimes it’s just the barrel and sometimes it’s the actual steering lock mechanism as well. Do you know which it is in your case?

    The barrel is very quick to change. The lock takes more labour. Especially if it is completely stuck and won’t release.

    Appearenrly it’s the whole thing. The steering wheel turns but the key will not

    Sounds like both parts are needed in that case. I can’t remember the prices offhand as it’s a good while since we had to do one but I’ll check for you when I get to work.

    Lock mechanism €110.71 ex VAT
    Barrel €175.77 ex VAT

    About an hour labour to fit.
