Dipped beams not working

Looking for a point in the right direction here.

    03 focus estate 1.6 petrol

Left dipped build blew a couple of days ago, then the right blew yesterday evening. Dropped into motor factors this morning, two new h7 bulbs, put both in, neither working. Checked that the bulbs weren't blown, and were seated correctly. Still no joy

Checked both dipped beam fuses in the aux fuse box, both fine. Checked all other fuses because electrics. All fine

Swapped the main beam relay for the dipped beam relay. Fulls working, still no dipped beams.

If anybody has a suggestion for next step I'd love to hear it

I've been doing a bit of searching, and I've come up with this thread

    https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/questions/19666/low-beams-wont-work

It gives a fairly thorough run through of trouble shooting the connections with a multimeter.

Will give it a shot and report back

An update for those few who might be interested.

I had my multimeter out and ready to go, but heeding the old maxim, never trust the work that went before you, even if it's your own, I said I'd check the connections at the bulb first.

Thought I could see a little corrosion on the connections, so out with the needle files. Low and behold, both bulbs now working.

All that was left to do then was figure out why the abs light was on constantly. Turns out the fuse for the abs doesn't work if it's been put in the slot for xenon headlights :(

So you just filed off the corrosion and that was it?

You are a genius! I should have thought of this when I noticed that the water-proof covers at the back of my headlights were missing!
