For those who don't already know, or have one, there is a growing list of towns/cities in France where your vehicle is required to display a CRIT'Air emissions certificate. Some control zones, like Paris, are permanent; others are variable depending on the weather.

This sticker costs €3.70 plus postage (€4.80 total for EU countries)

The official French government site has all the information you need, in English, and a straightforward application process.

Just like the pseudo-ETSA sites, however, there are several online companies offering to apply for a CRIT'Air sticker on your behalf and charging you for the privilege. Don't get caught out - spend the extra euros on cheese and wine instead! smile.png

OP, thanks for this heads up but can I advise you on how we write money amounts here....

You can indeed. But I think anyone coming over here would probably understand that things are written on the continent the way they're spoken in Ireland - Three Euro Seventy. ;)

I was going to ask the question, where do you need one, but using the power of google found the that currently only Paris, Lyon, Grenoble, Arve, Lille and Strasbourg require it.
So basically Paris plus some non windy places far from the Atlantic where emissions can build up.

    Avre?

As of Jan 2018, there are five cities where having a sticker is compulsory at all times (bold in the list below), but there are several additional "pollution protection zones" where restrictions can be brought in overnight for short periods.

The full list of areas concerned is:
Avignon, Béthune, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Douai-Lens, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon-Villeurbanne, Marseille-Aix-en-Provence, Metz, Montpellier, Nancy, Nantes, Nice, Orléans, Paris, Pointe-à-Pitre-Les-Abymes, Rennes, Rouen, Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg, Toulon, Toulouse, Tours, Valenciennes.
