Tanking in shower area

Hi all, hope someone can help,

I am currently in the middle of a build and have been advised by the crowd we are buying our shower trays off to tank the ones up stairs. They will not be wetrooms but will be a slim trays. It sounds like a good idea to me, especially considering it is a new build and it's probably better to do it now than down the line.

My question is, who carries out this work? The company selling the trays said the plumber should be able to do it but the plumber has said the builder should be doing it. Is it something I could even do myself? I just wanted to know before I talked with the builder.

    Thanks,

    Jof.

Definitely not the plumber, the tiler normally does this before tiling.

Tiler. Well worth the investment. It will never leak.

Tis easy to do yourself once the area is prepped.

The builder has advised me to get the tiler to do. Said it shouldn’t be a problem. I haven’t got prices or talked to tilers yet though so haven’t decided what I’m doing.
