I am thinking of buying a package of the snap milk test devices.Do they give an accurate result of the presence of antibiotics in the milk sample or are they reliable enough to give the farmer the vital information they need.Any advice would be appreciated.

Used them for the first time this year. They are very handy, I did 2 tests the first time, one I knew was positive and one which was clear just to sus it out. Bought them off magenta, they have a video on their site to show how to use them

    Are they costly?

They are handy alright but don't cover everything. Delvo Test is the only one that covers everything, downside of delvo test is that it takes three hours😕. Glanbia use delvo test if antibiotics found in lorry load

Delvo test is probably the best only you will have to bring a sample of the milk to the laboratory. Not an option if you want a result on a weekend. Although i am not certain about that.

Have delvo kit including incubator at home. If you bring sample to glanbia they use snap test, same as on lorry.

They do not use Snap on the trucks. It's Charm Test that's used. Its a 3 minute test. We have one here and highly recommend it. We also have a Delvo and haven't used since changing to Charm

My mistake. Delvo the only test to cover everything. From my understanding the othr rs only cover penicillin. That's what I was told by the milk manager.

Don't know the cost now. Got my one early 00's, think it was couple of hundred euro's at the time. Has paid for itself several times over.
