Ford fiesta 1.4 tdci judder / miss fire

Hi folks ive noticed when driving my 1.4 tdci fiesta there is like a juddder or misfire to say.

Ive been told that injector seals are a common problem in these engines. I was wondering would anyone have any clue before i go spending money in the mechanics. The judder isnt very strong but noticable. Its also an irregular thing, it may happen now and it might not happen for another 1 or 2 hours of driving, ive just been on a 2.5 hour journey and it happen twice on acceleration.

Ive noticed when starting the engine first thing in the morning there is a strong smell of diesel and it just lingers for a little while ive been told this to was a sign of injector seals. Would any one have a rough idea how much injector seals are to replace.
Is there any chance that my fiesta could be just loosing boost for that split second and that it might be a sensor problem?

I would love to hear your replys and if anyone else has experience this i would love to hear what the problem was. Thank you.

Spotting a faulty injector seal is easy, when your engine is cold start it and look for puffs of air coming up from around an injector.

You could just tighten up the injector mounting bolts to see if it helps, but don't over tighten...

The seals are only €3ish each. And providing the injector is not siezed in place its a 30 min job tops

Thank you for your help. Im just after stripping out the air box and on inspection of the injectors i can see a carbon build up around injector 1 and 4 so i know now the injector seals need replacing, would you have any idea if that would cause the judder, or lack of boost? I cleand the boost and MAF sensor.

Yes, 2x leaking seals will cause power loss and juddering as the fuel and compression is lost through the leak
