Van clocked

I'm looking for some advice because this is something that I know nothing about.....
A relation of mine bought a van from a dealer in October 2016 , she was looking to trade it in on a car and rang about it today. This was not the same dealer she bought the van from, this dealer did a check and told her that the van was clocked in 2011, it's an 09 reg and an import, so it's worth about 1,000 at auction !! The mileage was lowered by 40,000 miles.
My question is does she have any comeback with the dealer ???
I'm really only looking for advice on the current situation and if she has any rights at this stage. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

They’d have to be able to prove that the dealer knew it was clocked or that they clocked it, so no realistic chance of anything. They could approach the original dealer and ask them to make a bid on the van.
