    You could pay near that here for a decent scheme and MULTIPLES of it in USA .5k dollars is bargain basement health insurance over there .$25k woukd probably be equivalent to what average person buys here

    Note that in Ireland healthcare is mainly tax-financed, where as in the USA it is mainly insurance-based.

    So although a family pays more insurance over there, of course they don't have to pay much tax towards h/c.
