Removing pebble dash and adding a smooth plaster finish

I have a 2 bed terraced house that has original pebble dashing from the 50's. My wife wants a smooth plaster finish so I either hilti off what's there and plaster to a finish, just plaster over what's there to a finish or get external insulation blocks (with grant) and smooth off to a finish.

Does anyone have any experience of this and know which may be the best option? or an alternative?

External insulation is the way to go. But please think about the details
