Social welfare and prosecution?

    Hi guys ...

Thought I'd post here as I'm really unsure and worried about this ....basically got a letter the other day from social welfare inspector here in my branch in Dublin .... wanted to review me and to bring my documents etc ... wasn't sure whether it just happened to be routine or whether someone called on me and reported?!

Anyway ... I'm on casual jobseekers allowance past 2 years ... I obviously did work more than the 3 day rule many times but didn't Mark that on the sheet ... I'm sure a lot have done or do this ?

I live alone .. rent a single studio flat for myself and pay 136 in rent which my landlady also increased recently... anyway I never worked over 40 hours .... the most was about 25-30 hour's and on occasion I did tick that on my dockets so was truthful... but now with my bank statements Etc I'm wondering what the consequences will be ? If IL have to repay what I owe or if I will just be means tested again or even worse if I have to face a prosecution charge! I know that sounds extreme but I'm worried as I've heard it happening to people ...

Also a little over 2 years ago before I began this job ... I was in another job for literally 3 weeks and forgot to inform the dole about this ...yes stupid I know ! Anyway I had to repay around 200 Euro in installments each week ....

As I have Been on their bad books before with not telling them about that 3 week job I had ... I'm wondering will the outcome be more serious? So so worried! Should I go into my boss and talk with them ... I'm a health care assistant and only work a few hours a day ....obviously more than the 3 day rule ...

Thanks guys if anyone can give their opinions or feedback ....

Don't reckon Dublin forum best place for this.

Every time I open the local paper they're looking for health care assistants. Why not just work full-time?

I expect if you pay it back you'll be okay - could be a fair amount though if you've been frequently working over three days.

Moved to State Benefits. Local charter applies.

I know someone who owed thousands and they came to an agreement with them to make a monthly repayment. Just be honest with them.

Thanks .... yes I fully agree and being honest I guess it's also the nature of the work for example as I work with elderly people in the community ...they often don't live majorly long so can have times when your out of work with hardly any hour's at all ... I know everyone had problems etc and I'm certainly not playing the innocent victim here.. as I also live alone and rent a flat by myself I was so worried etc that I wouldn't be able to pay it if I worked full time then didn't get enough hours so it felt safer me staying part time .... being honest I probably wouldn't have anywhere else to live if I had to leave my flat as I don't have good family relationships.... thanks for your reply I appreciate it .... IL await the letter or phone call from the office and take full responsibility whatever the outcome
