How to access Zanussi Fridge Thermostat??

    Hello All,

Our old Zanussi Fridge Freezer died recently after a long service but erratic recent temperatures. I suspect the thermostat failed and I would like to test it but am having trouble accessing it. Anyone know how to remove the thermostat/bulb enclosure from the side of the fridge? There are a few tabs on the back of the enclosure behind the control knob which hook into the side of the fridge. It seems to me that I should slide the enclosure towards the back of the fridge and pull out but there's no leeway to slide back. Anyone know how? Thanks!

prise off the section nearest the back plate of the fridge, its clipped and held in place with lugs, you will then be able to remove the cover over the bulb and the bulb itself, from memory there is a retaining screw at the back of the bulb remove this you should then be able to remove the stat, by joining leads 6 and 4 the compressor should run, take a photo first and remember you are dealing with a 230 volt appliance

Thanks very much for the reply Red Ace, I'll give that a go again over the weekend.
